Looking at a print version of Carabella, yes you can get the whole story in print, on paper makes me see conceptually print isn’t screen and vice-a-versa. Print is softer and smaller scale but more real, because you hold all 130 pages in your hands. You can scan a page before focusing in on a panels and flipping thru it is a different experience then clicking thru a story from screen to screen or scrolling.

I’m sure I should win awards for such brilliant conclusions. of course it seems like most of the people who want to turn comics into screen experiences want to make sure they take all control out of the creators hands and provide the dumb creator just a place to draw the pictures. So the challenge now is to learn android development or how to port Flash to Android and then learn i-phone development to replace Flash.

Getting Things Down the David Allen system of managing all your actions is to hard. sure make your lists , assemble things, then do them. when you don’t feel like it do something else on your list. One way he sells it is

1. Make decisions about what next Actions are required
2. Put the outcomes and actions down in written form
3. Look at the lists and do things

3. Of course being the hard part, because after all how do you just look at a list and do things? It seems easy to say and much harder to do when the wife is bitching at you to take out the trash, the boss is screaming where’s his report, the kid has just discovered porn on the computer, who the hell has time to do anything? I have of course been focused on two things lately, directed practice, targeted exercises to improve skills in doing things, and learning how to sit, in the Buddhist kind of way.

She goes on the run. Gerry and Mark are going to be at San Diego ComicCon this coming weekend. Thursday Gerry by himself at 10:30 Am and 4:00 pm. Friday I show up with him, 1 pm and 5:30 pm. It wasn’t any longer wait then usual for the bus, but the drawing seemed easier to do then the usual sketchbook time filling doodle. In meditation you are always faced with how random thoughts keep coming into your head and distracting you from paying attention to your breath. It seems really stupid to pay attention to your breath. I mean big deal I’ve been breathing for fifty years. Why pay attention to something you’ve been doing for so damn long?

But in this drawing I felt more focused on just the drawing, not waiting for the bus, not the cars zipping by, not the people waiting with me, just drawing. I was paying attention to the drawing in a way that felt different. I’ve been drawing almost as long as I have been breathing. But all the practice of paying attention to the breath seems to be creeping into other things now. Funny to feel a shift in the drawing even now.
